Hello,

My name is Fumi Aizawa, I am painter ,make picture books and mother of two children.
I learned oil painting at Musashino Art University in Japan.
I have presented my work in solo and group exhibitions, and I also have experienced
teaching art to young children since my student days.
Through reading picture books together with my child, we shared many conversations
and discoveries. I often dreamed of creating a picture book of my own someday.
In 2021, one of my illustrations was selected for the Bologna international illustration
Exhibition, which gave me the opportunity to publish my first picture book.
I have also collaborated with picture book editor to create a picture book of Itabashi
folktales, commissioned by Board of Education with Itabashi in Tokyo.
My first book “I Am Going To Be a Big Sister” was selected for the Japanese
Children’s books-JBBY selection 2024.
 

My illustrations are playful yet thoughtful, focusing on emotion and detail.
Now I am focusing on illustration for children’s books, combining my artistic
experience with my passion for nurturing imagination.
My biggest wish is in creating picture books is to bring joy to someone.

I like strolling in the woods near my home and seeing birds, squirrels and cooking with my daughter.
